No. 46 TCU dominates No. 25 VCU, 6-1

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 46 TCU women's tennis team cruised to a 6-1 defeat of No. 25 VCU on Friday night at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The win improved the Frogs to 9-7 overall, while dropping the Rams to 17-5 on the season.
"This was a very impressive performance tonight by the entire team," said TCU head coach Jefferson Hammond. "I'm so excited to put it all together at the same time. The players played incredibly smart tennis tonight, and the effort and all the hard work that everyone puts in paid off. This win gives us a lot of great momentum heading into our conference season."
The Frogs evened doubles play at one game each after Nina Munch-Soegaard and Kewa Nichols teamed up at the No. 2 position to defeat Vera Petrashevitch and Olena Leonchuk, 8-5. Trailing 7-4 at the No. 1 slot, the No. 6 tandem of Ana Cetnik and Anna Sydorska won five consecutive games to rally past the No. 2 duo in the nation of Olga Borisova and Marianna Yuferova, 9-7. The win improved the duo to 4-1 on the season when playing against nationally ranked opponents, and 9-3 overall.
With the score even at 1-1, the Frogs won all five remaining singles matches to take the victory. No. 41 Cetnik started with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win over Viktoria Konstantinova, while Kewa Nichols followed with a 6-4, 6-0 defeat of Maria Klokotzky to put the Frogs up 3-1. After dropping the first set by a score of 6-1, junior Andrea Morgado battled back at the No. 5 slot to record wins of 6-3 and 6-0 to clinch the match for the Frogs.
#84 Munch-Soegaard followed with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 2 over VCU's Borisova. #54 Sydorska topped off the match by defeating Yuferova, 6-1, 6-7(3), 6-4.
The women will get back in action on March 29 as they will host conference foe New Mexico at 5 p.m. at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
