FORT WORTH, Texas - A late first-half run was enough for the BYU Cougars (19-6, 9-2) to topple the TCU Horned Frogs (10-13, 2-9 MWC) on Saturday night. The Frogs suffered an 85-72 loss to the Mountain West Conference leader in front of 4,824 fans at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
BYU jumped out to an 11-3 advantage in the first two and a half minutes, but the Frogs scored 10 unanswered in the next three minutes to take the lead. TCU trailed by just two, 24-22, with 8:33 remaining before halftime until a 15-2 Cougar run over the next seven minutes broke the game open.
TCU, which trailed 41-29 at intermission, was never able to get the deficit under double figures in the second half. The Frogs pulled within 10 on two occasions in the stanza.
Sophomore Kevin Langford scored a career-best 22 points to reach double figures for the 13th time in the past 14 games. Senior Femi Ibikunle had a career-high 13, while junior Alvardo Parker added 10. The three post players combined for 45 of the team's 72 points.
BYU shot 61.5 percent from the floor against TCU after netting 59.3 percent of its shots in the earlier meeting between the schools this season. The Frogs are now 1-10 when allowing at least 70 points.
