POST-GAME QUOTESTCU-Coppin State
Dec. 8, 2007
Fort Worth, Texas--Daniel-Meyer Coliseum
Head Coach Jeff Mittie
On his team's shooting performance
"We have not shot the ball that well all year. We have not really played to our strengths and taken away the opponent's strengths. That has been a concern of mine defensively, that's an area we just haven't been very good. Offensively, we have had trouble playing to our own strengths, but today I thought we did. (Coppin State's) strength is their guards. They average 19 to 20 points a game and take a lot of shots. When the game was in hand we did an excellent job of taking their strength away from them. On the other hand, when we took their strengths away we got opportunities up the floor to get into a good flow offensively. I thought we were making the right passes at the right times."
On Coppin State
"This is a team that went 18-0 in their league last year, played in the WNIT and made it to the second round. It was a lot more about us playing really well tonight. The last two years they have been excellent. I believe this is going to be a team that wins twenty-plus games. It was one of those nights for us and one of those nights for them."
Senior guard Adrianne Ross
On the win
"A lot of the goes credit to Mo (Moneka Knight) and my teammates. As you saw, I didn't do anything significant. I was just open on the 3-pointer and they skipped the ball to me. We did a good job of being aware of where everyone was and getting the ball to each other. The points just came from good passing and good patience from my teammates."
Senior guard Moneka Knight
On her eight assists
"I felt like my teammates were working really hard to get open. We were hitting shots and it seemed like everything was coming together today. We were trying to push it and play our game. That is our game."
