POST-GAME QUOTESTCU-Grambling State
Dec. 29, 2007
Fort Worth, Texas--Daniel-Meyer Coliseum
TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
Opening Statement
"We did some good things, including coming out of our break with only nine turnovers today. We weren't as sharp shooting the ball. We didn't look fresh from a leg standpoint. We worked hard yesterday with an important stretch about to start in our schedule."
On the large winning margin
"We've had so many up-and-down games this season that it was nice to be able to relax and not live and die on every possession. We could sit and evaluate."
On what his team tried to accomplish against Grambling State
"We wanted to eliminate back-to-back bad possessions. I saw some good conversation and heard good things from the bench and floor. We moved the lineup around some and might do it more. We're starting to find each others' strengths and develop a higher consistency level. I believe we'll be a better offensive team in the second half of the year."
On the play of sophomore guard Emily Carter
"We trust Emily (Carter) to do what we need from her in the flow of the game. She's a threat from 3 and she can get to the line. She went to the turnaround jumper in the middle of the zone today.
"Emily is playing some different positions and just needs to learn plays from those different spots. She makes us calmer with her steady demeanor. She will continue to play better and better."
Sophomore guard Emily Carter
On TCU's gameplan
"We just knew that we had to pick it up today. They switched their defense, and we adjusted well to the zone. We also got better with our help-side defense which led to some turnovers and steals."
On Friday's game against UT-Arlington
"We'll work hard in practice this week to prepare for a good UTA team (Friday). It's an important game because it's the last one before we begin conference play."
