
Smith earns All-Mountain West Conference honors

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Nov. 21, 2007) - LeMeita Smith earned All-Mountain West Conference honors for her performance during the 2007 conference season. The all-conference squad was announced Wednesday night at the annual pre-tournament banquet. The Horned Frogs are the fourth-seed in the tournament and will open up tournament play Thursday afternoon against Utah at 6 p.m. (CST).
Smith, a senior from Arlington, has been an offensive leader for the Horned Frogs this season, ranking second on the squad with 3.24 kills per game. Her 63 (21 solo, 42 assist) blocks on the season are third best. She has led the team in kills on 13 occasions and blocking four times.
In conference play, Smith was equally as productive. She paced the Frogs with an average of 3.38 kills per game and ranked second with 42 blocks.
The Frogs set a school record for wins in the Mountain West as they finished tied for fourth with a league mark of 9-7 on the season. Their 22 total victories is one shy of tying the school-record of 23 set back in 2003.
Smith is just the sixth Frog to earn all-conference accolades, joinging Marci King, Erin Ludeke, Domi Szabo, Anna Vaughn and Talaya Whitfield.
