Horned Frogs set for MacDonald Cup

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's golf team travels to its third event of the fall season on Saturday to compete in the 54-hole MacDonald Cup in New Haven, Conn.
Competing this weekend for head coach Bill Montigel's squad is Travis Woolf, Robby Ormand, Franklin Corpening, James Sacheck and Tom Hoge. In his last outing, Woolf led the Frogs at the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Sept. 16, shooting an even par to finish 10th overall.
This weekend's tournament will be held at The Course at Yale, a par-70, 6,749-yard course, which opened in 1924. Overall, the course has been the site of two USGA Junior National events, the 1991 NCAA Eastern Regional championships, the 1991 ECAC Men's Championship, and the 1992 ECAC Women's Championship. In 1988, Golf Magazine ranked the course as the 71st most difficult course in the world. It has also been voted as the No. 1 collegiate course in the nation. Two of the holes- the 432-yard par-4 fourth and the 238-yard par-3 ninth - have been ranked among the 100 most difficult holes in the nation.
Teams highlighting the 24 team field at the MacDonald Cup include: Brown, Dartmouth, Drake, Fordham, Harvard, Holy Cross, Princeton, Providence, Rutgers, Connecticut and Yale.
Last Time Out: The TCU men's golf team fired their best team score of 295 on Sept. 16 at the Farm Golf Club (par-72, 7,012 yards) to jump two positions and finish the Carpet Capital Collegiate in 14th place. Travis Woolf, a sophomore from Fort Worth, led the Frogs on the weekend, finishing 10th overall, while Robby Ormand followed with a two-over par performance the final day to finish the tournament in 22nd place.
