
Frogs fall to Alaska-Fairbanks

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Horned Frog rifle squad dropped a hard fought match to the defending National Champions, Alaska-Fairbanks by a 4,653-4,627 score. Simone Riford was the Frogs' top shooter on the afternoon with an aggregate score o 1,167, which was second best overall.Six points was all that separated the two teams in smallbore as UAF squeeked out a 2,303-2,297 victory in the event. Riford paced the Frog attack with a 581, which was good enough for a second place finish. Emily Paper came in fourth with a 574. The final three spots were claimed by Frog shooters as Lauren Sullivan (572) finished sixth, Erin Lorenzen (570) seventh and Tanya Gorin (570) in eighth.
Fairbanks claimed five of the top eight spots in air rifle to secure the match victory, 2,350-2,330. Lorenzen was the top Frog shooter with a 587, placing her fourth in the event. Riford finished sixth with a 586 and Sullivan was the other finisher in seventh place with a 581.
Six other Frogs participated in air rifle but did not place in the top eight. Paper shot a 576, while Bonnie Morgan finished the match with a 567. Tanya Gorin shot a 560 followed closely by Margaret Low's 559. Rebecca Upjohn shot a 551 and Caitlin Mencio rounded out the Frog shooters with a 536.
