TCU has now won 13 consecutive games, the longest active winning streak in the nation.
The 13-game winning streak is the longest by a TCU team since the Horned Frogs won 14 in a row over the 1937-38 seasons. TCU won its final three games in 1937 before going 11-0 in its 1938 national championship season behind Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Davey O'Brien.
Since the start of the 2005 campaign, TCU is 4-0 against the Big 12. In those four contests, the Frogs have allowed an average of just 11.0 points per game.
In its two wins over the Big 12 this season (17-7 at Baylor, 12-3 over Texas Tech), the Frogs surrendered just one touchdown and a total of 10 points.
TCU does not play the next four Saturdays. The Frogs are off Sept. 23 before returning to action with back-to-back Thursday games versus BYU (Sept. 28) and at Utah (Oct. 5). TCU is then off Oct. 14 before an Oct. 21 date at Army.
The Texas Tech game represented TCU's first sellout crowd since 1984 when the Horned Frogs hosted Texas.
The crowd of 45,647 was the third-largest in TCU history, surpassed only by the 47,280 for the 1984 game versus Texas and 46,021 for a 1986 contest against North Texas State.
Jeff Ballard broke a tie with Tye Gunn and now has sole possession of TCU's record for most consecutive victories by a quarterback to begin a career. Ballard is 11-0, which also ties him with Davey O'Brien for second on the Frogs' list of overall consecutive victories by a quarterback. The all-time mark is 12 by Sammy Baugh.
Chris Manfredini's four field goals made him 6-of-6 on the season and 19-of-19 in his two years at TCU (2005-06). When including his 2003 season with Cincinnati, Manfredini is 29-of-30 on field-goal attempts in his collegiate career.
Manfredini, a Lou Groza Award candidate, had a career-best four field goals in the game. His previous high was three in a contest, set against BYU and UNLV last season.
TCU allowed just 38 rushing yards against Texas Tech, the sixth straight game the Frogs have held their opponent to less than 60 yards rushing.
The last time TCU won a contest in which it scored 12 or fewer points was Sept. 14, 1974 when the Frogs defeated UT-Arlington 12-3.
Chase Ortiz's had the third forced fumble of his career when he sacked Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell in the second quarter. On the same play, Cody Moore had his first career fumble recovery.
Robert Henson had TCU's first punt block since Jesse Hejny at Air Force last season (Oct. 22, 2005).
Wide receiver Michael DePriest saw his first action of the season after missing the opening two games with an arm injury.
Brian Cortney's 56-yard fourth-quarter punt was the third-longest of his career.
The last time TCU was held without a touchdown was on Oct. 10, 1998 in a 10-6 loss to SMU at Amon G. Carter Stadium, a string of 91 games.
