RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -- The TCU women's golf team is in sixth place after shooting a 17-over-par 593 in Monday's opening two rounds of the Northwestern Invitational in Rancho Mirage, Calif.The 14-team field played 36 holes Monday at the Gary Player Signature Course at the Westin Mission Hills Resort. Tuesday's third and final round will be 18 holes.
Catherine Matranga is the top Horned Frog with a 1-over-par 145, tying her for seventh individually. Kent State teammates Kira Meixner and Becky Wood are deadlocked for the lead with 8-under 136s.
No. 23 Kent State carded a 279-276 for a 21-under 555, 17 strokes ahead of No. 27 Michigan State (572) for the team lead. No. 35 TCU is just three shots behind No. 28 Baylor (590) for fourth place.
