
Men's tennis downs UNLV, 6-1

SALT LAKE CITY - The 33rd-ranked TCU men's tennis team defeated 58th-ranked UNLV 6-1 on Saturday to setup a 9 a.m. (CST) showdown on Sunday with 59th-ranked San Diego State for the Mountain West Conference regular-season title. With today's win, the Frogs improved to 14-8 overall and 5-0 in MWC play.
The Frogs swept the doubles competition to earn a one-point advantage in the match. Seniors Rafael Abreu and Jordan Freitas, currently ranked 48th in the ITA doubles poll, downed Joel Kielbowicz and David Campbell at No. 1.
Senior Jacopo Tezza and freshman Kriegler Brink defeated Romain Massaro and Wesley Burrows 8-2 at No. 2. Junior Radu Barbu and sophomore Cosmin Cotet completed the Horned Frog sweep with an 8-4 decision at No. 3.
40th-ranked Andrei Mlendea picked up a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 2 for his sixth win in seven matches.
Freitas and Cotet recorded 6-3, 6-0 victories at courts No. 6 and No. 3, respectively.
