The Horned Frogs Against the Roadrunners
TCU is 6-3 all time against UT-San Antonio in a series that dates back to 1981.
Seven of the nine games have been decided by 10 or fewer points.
The Horned Frogs have won three straight meetings, with the most recent coming on Dec. 15, 2001, a 91-85 decision in Fort Worth.
Oddly, TCU has a better record against UTSA in games played in San Antonio (3-1), than in games played in Fort Worth (3-2).
Looking For One Away From Home
TCU is 0-2 on the road this year after a 74-53 loss in Moraga, Calif., to St. Mary's on Nov. 21 and a 63-35 loss at Oklahoma on Dec. 2.
The Horned Frogs' last road victory came in the second round of the 2005 NIT, a 78-76 overtime win at Western Michigan.
Rare Home-and-Home
In addition to Wednesday's game, TCU and UTSA will also meet in Fort Worth on Dec. 27 (exactly three weeks later) as part of a season home-and-home package.
It is the first time that TCU has played two non-conference games in a season against the same team since 1994-95, when the Horned Frogs played Louisiana Tech in Fort Worth and Ruston, La.
The Horned Frogs also played home-and-home series with Louisiana Tech in both 1992-93 and 1993-94.
Local Flavor
TCU is 2-1 this year against schools from the state of Texas. The Horned Frogs beat Stephen F. Austin (59-53) and UT-Arlington (97-89), but lost to Texas Tech (70-60).
Of the Horned Frogs' 13 nonconference games, TCU has six against programs in the state of Texas. In addition, five more are versus schools from bordering states (Louisiana-3, Oklahoma-1 and Arkansas-1).
A Littleton Connection
Longtime friends, TCU assistant coach Jeff Luster and UTSA head coach Brooks Thompson, were high school teammates at Littleton High School in Littleton, Colo.
The Lions won the 1989 Colorado Class 4A state title with a 24-0 record that year, and Thompson was named the 4A Player of the Year.
Thompson was a senior on that team, while Luster was a junior.
Points of Emphasis
TCU averaged 76.0 points per game over their first three outings, but have scored just 53.0 per game over the past four games.
The Horned Frogs shot 46.5 percent in the first three games (74-for-159), but only 38.1 percent since (77-for-202).
Benchmarks
The TCU bench has outscored opposing benches by an amazing 224-115 count through seven games, which figures to 16 points per game (32-16).
In addition, the Horned Frog reserves have outscored the TCU starters 224-216.
TCU is 4-1 when its bench outscores the opposing bench, and 0-2 when being outscored.
We Walk the Line
TCU has been awarded just 17 free throws in the team's last two games combined.
The Horned Frogs attemped just eight against Texas Tech and nine at Oklahoma.
The Horned Frogs are averaging 36.5 free throw attempts per game in their four wins and 11.0 in their three losses.
