FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs (8-4) earned a two-game season sweep over the UT-San Antonio Roadrunners (4-8) by virtue of a 63-51 victory Wednesday night at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. TCU dominated the backboards, out-rebounding UTSA, 49-27.
TCU used an 11-3 run over seven minutes to turn a 13-11 lead into a 25-14 bulge with three minutes left in the first stanza. However, UTSA closed the half with a 7-0 run to go into intermission down just four.
The Roadrunners got within one on three occasions in the second half, but never scored the equalizing or go-ahead bucket. UTSA was down just six, 55-49, with 2:54 left to play, but TCU scored seven straight points to ice the game.
Kevin Langford posted his first career double-double for the Horned Frogs with 15 points and a career-best 10 rebounds. Neil P. Dougherty added a career-high nine points.
The teams met exactly three weeks ago, with the Horned Frogs earning a 62-46 victory in San Antonio. Dating back to that game, TCU has allowed just 53.8 points per game over the five contests.
The Horned Frogs have just one non-conference game remaining on the slate. TCU faces Colorado (3-6) on Saturday at 2 p.m. (CT) in Boulder, Colo. TCU's next home game is Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m., as TCU opens Mountain West Conference play against New Mexico.
