TCU men's golf team completes fall slate

SAN MARTIN, Calif. - Twenty-second ranked TCU finished its fall golf season with a 16th-place finish at the competitive CordeValle Collegiate after posting a final-round 293 (+5) on Tuesday. The Horned Frogs' 10-over-par three-round total of 874 was just five strokes out of 11th place.
Stanford ran away with the team title with a score of 822 (-42), while USC placed second at 836. Two Cardinal players, Rob Grube and Zack Miller, shared medalist honors with 14-under totals of 202.
Senior Drew Stoltz and junior Franklin Corpening began and finished the day tied for the team lead. Both players had 1-over 73s in the final round to finish in a share of 38th place at 217 (+1). Stoltz improved his head-to-head record against his teammates to 13-1-3 on the year. Meanwhile, 10 of Corpening's last 12 rounds featured scores of 73 or better.
Sophomore Robby Ormand (219, +3) placed 50th among the 88 competitors after his second straight even-par 72. Ormand's 72 was the Horned Frogs' best effort in the final round. Sophomores James Sacheck (T-68th) and Jesse Spiers (86th) rounded out the five-man team. Sacheck had a 78 on Tuesday to finish at 224 (+8), while Speirs carded a 75 for a 231 (+15).
Scott Roudebush, a freshman making his collegiate debut by playing as an individual, also tied for 68th. His sum of 224, which did not figure into the team total, included a round of 74 sandwiched between two 75s.
This was the final fall tournament for the Horned Frogs, who had runner-up finishes in two of their five events.
