Recap | Final Stats | Notes
TCU Head Coach Gary PattersonOn the game...
"We had a lot of chances on both sides of the ball. They had 87 yards of total offense and we had 624. The thing I was worried about were injuries in the second half and since we jumped ahead, we got a chance to play a lot of our younger players."
On TCU's offense...
"We did a lot of things early and ran a lot of seams up the middle. When we hit a couple of those early, it helped us open up the field."
On Donald Massey
"It was good to see Donald Massey do some things, because I think that he lost some of his confidence when he fumbled the opening kickoff. Then he came back and caught three touchdown passes and that got him going a little bit."
TCU Quarterback Jeff Ballard
How much fun is it when everything clicks on offense?
"It's a lot of fun. The game just comes to you and it's great when all your players have confidence in you."
On the difference in offense from last week's 25 passing yards...
"I really can't explain it. It seemed like we just connected on everything and the offense was in sync tonight."
TCU Wide Receiver Donald Massey
What did you do differently from last week to have the performance you had tonight?
"I took the approach that I take every week, but I put it upon myself to make the plays this week."
TCU Wide Receiver Quentily Harmon
What was different between the offense tonight that gained over 600 yards of offense as compared to last week?
"We had a rude awakening after last week's game. This week in practice coach kept grinding on us and we realized that we work too hard and have too many tools to not succeed. Jeff (Ballard) did a great job tonight and passed the ball around to everyone really well."
San Diego State Head Coach Chuck Long
On the game...
"I apologize to our fans for our performance tonight. I doubt we'll watch the tape. We'll just pack up and move on to New Mexico."
On the Aztecs inability to execute...
"I don't know, it's just one of those games that got away from us. We felt good going into the game, coming off a big win last week, but I knew we were banged up going in. We did get some young guys in to play, but we just had a tough day."
On TCU's offense...
"We thought they'd run a lot more, and we loaded up to stop that, but they threw it instead. Jeff Ballard is another good senior quarterback with experience. It seems like we've played a lot of those guys this year, a lot of good seniors, and he certainly played well today."
