DALLAS -- After opening the 2005 campaign with a 17-10 win at No. 5/7 Oklahoma, TCU has been named the Tostitos' Fiesta Bowl National Team of the Week.
It was TCU's first win over an opponent ranked that high since a 6-0 decision over No. 1 Texas in 1961. It also marked the highest-ranked opponent defeated by a Mountain West Conference team. For the first time since 1995, when Notre Dame lost to Northwestern, a Top 10 team dropped its season opener at home to an unranked opponent.
Oklahoma suffered just its second home loss in 38 games under coach Bob Stoops. It was also the first September defeat for Stoops in his seven seasons with the Sooners.
The game marked Oklahoma's first home-opening loss since a 20-7 defeat to TCU in 1996, the Frogs' most recent visit to Norman. TCU is now 4-1 when playing at Oklahoma.
TCU also became the first team since Baylor in 1998 (3-0) to shutout Oklahoma in the first half of a game.
