- Today's 17-10 win over No. 5 Oklahoma was TCU's first victory over an opponent ranked that high since a 6-0 decision over No. 1 Texas in 1961.
- Oklahoma is the highest-ranked team that TCU has defeated in Gary Patterson's five seasons as the Frogs' coach. The previous best was a 37-22 victory over No. 17 Louisville on Nov. 23, 2001.
- It was Oklahoma's first home-opening loss since a 20-7 defeat to TCU in 1996, the Frogs' most recent visit to Norman.
- Cory Rodgers' 10 receptions tied his single-game career-high that was initially set versus Tulane in 2004. Rodgers has moved into ninth place on the Frogs' career reception list with 108.
- The 32-yard run on a reverse by Donald Massey represented his first collegiate touch on offense. He was the only true freshman to play last season for TCU, when he saw action in two games at cornerback and had a pass breakup. The Frogs played four true freshmen today.
- TCU became the first team since Baylor in 1998 (3-0) to shutout Oklahoma in the first half of a game.
- Derek Moore, a walk-on who had a 16-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter, recorded the first two collegiate receptions of his career.
- The attendance of 84,332 was the third-largest crowd to ever see a TCU football game. The top two attendances were 87,439 and 86,412 for 1973 and 1969 contests, respectively, at Ohio State.
