FORT WORTH, Texas -- The following is a visit with redshirt freshman Robert Henson, a projected starter at linebacker for TCU this season.Q: What attracted you to TCU during the recruiting process?
A: I really liked the coaching staff and the campus felt like home. When I came for my visit, everyone treated me like I was part of the team. The location was good and it's a great program. The Frogs were 11-2 the year before I came. I was following them and realized that I could be part of that team.
Q: What's it like being a student at TCU?
A: I like the campus life. It's challenging academically, but it's going to make me better in the long run. It will be great to have a degree from such a prestigious university. You're pressured academically here, but it really helps you do a lot better.
Q: Describe playing for Coach (Gary) Patterson.
A: I love him and can't say enough good things about him. He really cares about you. That's what I noticed immediately and it really drew me to TCU. He's very involved with you academically as well as with football. I also like how he's active with the linebackers.
Q: How is TCU looking through the opening week of preseason camp?
A: We're looking good. Our goal is a Mountain West Conference championship.
Q: What are your thoughts about the Frogs' debut season in the Mountain West Conference?
A: I'm really looking forward to it. It's a great league. A lot of teams run the ball a lot and that's my style of football, so I like that.
Q: What are you like away from football?
A: Believe it or not, I'm kind of shy. I'll stay by myself a lot. I'm really close with my teammates, though. They're my best friends. I'm just quiet and simple.
