Fort Worth, Texas - Junior RHP Lance Broadway has been named a First-Team All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association, it was announced on Tuesday. He is one of four athletes from Conference USA to earn All-American status from the NCBWA and one of two represented on the first team. Earlier this month, Broadway was named First-Team All-American by Louisville Slugger.
Broadway put together a streak of 36 1/3 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run earlier in the year. He finished the season allowing just two earned runs in his last 43 2/3 innings pitched to finish with a 1.62 ERA, a league-best in Conference USA. The Grand Prairie, Texas native fanned a league-best and school record 151 batters this season. He was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week four times this season and earned Pro-Line Cap National Player of the Week honors twice.
Joining Broadway on the all-American squad from Conference USA is fellow first-team honoree, catcher Brad Willcutt of Southern Miss. Brian Bogusevic of Tulane was named Second-Team All-American as a utility player, while Southern Miss' Daniel Best was a Aecond-Team All-American relief pitcher.
Broadway became the highest draft pick in TCU baseball history when he was selected as the 15th overall pick by the Chicago White Sox in the Major League Draft on June 7.
