Matt McGuirk Named C-USA Hitter of the Week

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU freshman outfielder Matt McGuirk was named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week for his performance in helping the Frogs to their fifth straight Conference USA series win. The Horned Frogs pick up their second straight Hitter of the Week award with McGuirk honor this week. The Frogs are just a game back in the standings in second place following a series win over the Memphis Tigers. The honor marks the first in McGuirk's career and the fourth for the Frogs this spring.
McGuirk had three multiple-hit games and finished the week 9-for-18 (.500) with five extra base hits. McGuirk had two doubles, one triple, one home run and drove in 10 runs over four games. He also scored nine times, including two or more runs in each outing.
Shelby Ford was honored earlier this season as the Conference USA Hitter of the Week on Feb. 14 and Lance Broadway was named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week on March 14. Last week, outfielder Keith Conlon was named Conference USA Hitter of the Week for his performance against the USF Bulls.
The son of Dana and Bruce McGuirk, McGuirk is a native of Fort Worth, Texas and a graduate of Arlington Heights High School.
