Frogs Set For Three Matches This Week

THIS WEEK'S ACTION
The No. 20 TCU women's tennis team heads to Norman, Okla., for its final road match of the regular season on Wednesday afternoon when it faces the No. 60 Oklahoma Sooners. The match will be held at the Headington Family Tennis Center beginning at 4 p.m.
The Frogs return to Fort Worth for matches against Conference USA foe, Houston, on Saturday at 12 p.m. and No. 29 South Alabama at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Both matches will be played on the Bernard J. "Tut" Bartzen Varsity Courts at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.

Live match scoring for home matches via the Internet is back for a second season this spring. It is featured on the official Web site of TCU athletics, www.GoFrogs.com. Updates from the match are given periodically as the players progress and the order of finish, along with match notes, are also available on the page.
LAST WEEK'S ACTION
The Frogs saw their six-match winning streak snapped last Wednesday in Los Angeles. The team claimed the doubles point after No. 35 Ana Cetnik and Story Tweedie-Yates beat Nicole Leimbach and Carine Vermeulen, 8-6. Paige Brown and Karla Mancinas clinched the point with their 8-6 win over Lindsey Nelson and Taylyn Synder. In singles, No. 25 Tweedie-Yates picked up her 11th win over a ranked opponent this season as she dominated No. 11 Leimbach, 6-1, 6-2. Andrea Morgado picked up the final TCU point with her 7-6(1), 6-2 decision over Synder at six.
Against No. 31 Pepperdine on Thursday, the Frogs won a 4-2 rain-shortened match as only singles were played. The team picked up wins at one, two, four and six to win the match. Tweedie-Yates clinched the win with her 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Caroline Raba at the one spot.
FROGS HOLD STEADY IN ITA RANKINGS
The Horned Frogs held steady at 20th in the latest ITA team rankings that were released on March 29. The team's computer average dropped from 36.85 points to 38.89. Individually, Story Tweedie-Yates is ranked 25th, while Helena Besovic is 56th. In doubles, Ana Cetnik and Tweedie-Yates are 35th in the nation. The next individual rankings will be released on April 5.
SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday's match with the Sooners will serve as the rubber match in the all-time series as it is knotted up at 11-11. Last season in Fort Worth, Oklahoma came away with a 4-3 victory over the Frogs as they swept the doubles matches.
TCU has won the last seven meetings in the all-time series against Houston to hold a commanding 26-7 advantage. Last season, the Frogs topped the Cougars 4-3 in Houston. During the 1997 season, the Cougars beat the Frogs in the regular season and the conference tournament. This was the last victory for UH in the series.
In four meetings with South Alabama, the series is tied at two matches apiece. Last season, TCU claimed the 5-2 victory over the Jaguars in Fort Worth.
MORGADO APPROACHES 20TH WIN
Freshman Andrea Morgado will be looking to become TCU's third player this season to reach the 20 win plateau. After going through a mid-season swoon where she lost three consecutive matches, Morgado has bounced back to win four straight to push her overall record to 19-8 this season. With a win on Wednesday, the freshman will join Helena Besovic (27-7) and Story Tweedie-Yates (24-4) in the 20-win club.
A GRAND OLE "STORY"
Story Tweedie-Yates is 11-4 this season when facing players that are listed among the ITA singles rankings. Last week in L.A., the senior dominated No. 11 Nicole Leimbach, 6-1, 6-2. It was the second highest ranked player that she has defeated this season as she topped then-No. 9 Aibika Kalsarieva of Kentucky in the Round of 32 at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championship.
NEARLY UNBLEMISHED
No. 35 Ana Cetnik and Story Tweedie-Yates are 12-1 this season at the No. 1 singles spot. The pair is currently on a six-match winning streak that dates back to Mar. 9. Their only loss came against Daniella Covello and Zuzana Zemenova of Baylor, 8-5, on Feb. 22.
SEASON HIGHLIGHTS
The Frogs have already achieved two program firsts this season. On Feb. 13, TCU defeated No. 7 Clemson, 4-3, to top the highest ranked opponent in school history. As a result on Feb. 15, the Frogs were 14th in the ITA team rankings, a new high for the program.
A LITTLE HOME COOKIN'
After facing Oklahoma on Wednesday, the Frogs wil return to Fort Worth for five home matches to close out the regular season. In addition, the team will host the C-USA Championships on April 21-24. Thus far, TCU is 7-1 on its home courts this season.
PAINTING TEXAS PURPLE
TCU will put its 5-1 record against teams from the state of Texas on the line on Saturday against Houston. The Frogs opened the year with five straight wins over teams from the Lone Star state defeating: Texas State (7-0), North Texas (7-0), UT-Arlington (6-1), Texas A&M (5-2) and SMU (6-1). On Feb. 22, Baylor haulted TCU's run with a 5-2 victory over the Frogs in Fort Worth.
After hosting the Cougars, the Frogs will round out their schedule against Texas foes against Rice on April 8.
BORELLI BREAKDOWN
Head Coach Dave Borelli has a 343-65 (.841) record during his 16 year coaching career. He also has the most national titles of any active coach in the NCAA's (both men and women). Former Stanford Coach Dick Gould has the most titles with 17, but he retired at the end of the 2003-04 season.
In two years with the Frogs, Borelli has posted a 41-20 (.672) mark, which includes a 25-6 record at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center, an 12-12 mark on the road and a 3-2 record on neutral courts.
SCOUTING THE SOONERS
Oklahoma enters the match as the No. 60 team in the country with a 9-7 overall record. The Sooners have lost three straight matches and seven of their last 11 after starting the season 5-0. The team's last wins were a pair of 6-1 decisions over Iowa State and Kansas State.
Freshman Christi Baxley has the top record this spring for OU with a 12-2 mark, which has primarily come at the No. 6 spot where she is 8-1.
SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Houston enters this week's play with an 11-6 overall record this season. Most recently, the Cougars topped Lee College, 6-1. Before competing against the Frogs on Saturday, UH will square off with Texas-Arlington on Friday.
Senior Biljana Dimovska is Houston's No. 1 singles player with a 10-5 record this spring.
SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
South Alabama, ranked 29th, is on a five-match winning streak to run its overall record to 14-4 as it heads into up-coming matches with SMU on Saturday and TCU a day later. On Mar. 20, the Jaguars topped then-No. 11 Harvard 4-3 to pick up their ninth win over a ranked opponent this season.. From Mar. 5 through Mar. 11, South Alabama was on a grueling road stretch where it fell to three top-20 teams, Clemson (4-3), Georgia Tech (5-2) and Tulane (6-1), all on the road.
Ana Rupic is the lone player on the Jaguar squad in the national rankings as she comes in at 78th. She has a 12-6 spring and 19-11 overall mark. In doubles, Katarine Palenikova and Maria Zivcicova are 7-6 in duals at the No. 1 spot this spring.
