Fort Worth, Texas - TCU baseball's Lance Broadway became the first Horned Frog in the Jim Schlossnagle-era to be honored as a National Pitcher of the Week. The honor comes on the heels of being named the Conference USA Pitcher of the Week following his dominating performance against the No. 5 Rice Owls. Being named the National Pitcher of the Week automatically places Broadway on the Roger Clemens Award watch list given to collegiate baseball's top pitcher of the year.
Broadway threw a complete-game three-hitter against Rice on Friday night to earn his third win of the season. TCU improved to 4-0 in games that he starts. Broadway struck out eight and walked only three in nine innings with the only run he allowed being an unearned run in the bottom of the first. He didn't allow more than one base runner on base after the second inning and didn't surrender a hit after the fourth inning. He retired the last four batters he faced.
He shared the honor with North Carolina State's Gib Hobson.
