FORT WORTH, Texas -- Three TCU Lady Frogs received their undergraduate degrees on Saturday in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Sandora Irvin and Niki Newton, both seniors on the 2004-05 squad, were among the trio, as was current Lady Frog junior Ashley Davis, who redshirted as a true freshman.Irvin earned two degrees with a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing and entrepreneurial management, while Newton received a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice. Davis got her BBA in entrepreneurial management and now will begin work on a master's in education administration.
Irvin was a consensus All-American as a senior and earned Conference USA Player of the Year and Female Athlete of the Year honors. She owns 11 of TCU's 19 career records and is the NCAA's all-time leader in blocked shots. Irvin became the first Lady Frog to play in the WNBA this past summer after being drafted third overall by the Phoenix Mercury in April.
Newton was the only Lady Frog to start and play all 33 games last season. She picked up All-America honors by the National Strength and Conditioning Association and enjoyed her most productive season last year with TCU.
Davis is one of four Lady Frogs averaging double digits in the scoring column this season with 11 per game. She is fifth on TCU's career list for threes made and sixth in attempts. Davis has scored in double figures five times this season and owns 28 career games with 10 or more points.
