FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs look to build on their win over Jacksonville State as they hit the road to face the Baylor Bears. Game time against the Bears on Friday is slated for 7:00 at the Betty Lou Mays Soccer Field. The Frogs begin a stretch of five straight matches on the road when they travel to Waco. For the Frogs this will be their third match of the season against a Big 12 member. So far this season the Frogs are 1-1 against the Big 12.
The Frogs are coming off a 3-1 home victory over the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. Jessi Moore had a career day for the Frogs as she tallied five points in the contest on two goals and an assist. Moore put the Frogs up 1-0 with a successful penalty kick. She assisted on Cara Toulouse's game-winner before scoring the insurance goal that gave the Frogs the 3-1 win.
News & Notes:
Moore Finds Her Stroke
• After tallying just three shots in the first two games of the season, Jessi Moore has found her stroke. She challenged OU goalkeeper Catherine Wade four times, but came up empty. She finally was able to capitalize against Jacksonville State as she racked up five points in the contest, the most in her TCU career. She tallied two goals and assisted on the game-winner.
It's Good
• Penalty kicks are becoming a regularity on the TCU soccer field. The Frogs earned themselves another PK attempt against Jacksonville State when Jessi Moore was hauled down in the penalty box. Just like Amy Van Zandt, Moore was able to capitalize on the opportunity, ripping the ball past the goalkeeper for her first goal of the season.
Breaking Away
• Cara Toulouse recorded the second game-winning goal of her career when she connected for TCU against Jacksonville State. Toulouse got the pass at midfield from Moore and took it all the way to goal, scoring the sixth in her career.
Now Appearing In Goal
• The Frogs have four goalkeepers on their roster this season and have used three of them so far. Katy Buchanan has started in goal twice as has Ashley Pierret. Lindsay White also saw her first action of the season against Oklahoma. Pierret leads the squad with a 2.34 GAA, while Buchanan has the most saves with 10.
Scouting The Bears
• The Bears are coming off a 1-1 weekend, same as the Frogs, following a trip to Columbia, Mo., where they took part in the University of Missouri Tournament. Baylor defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes 2-1 in Friday's match. Anna Schuch tallied the game-winner over Iowa with just under ten minutes to go. The Hawkeyes capitalized on their only shot on goal against Ashley Holder. On Sunday, the Bears suffered a 3-2 overtime defeat at the hands of the Wisconsin Badgers. The Bears jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but gave up three unanswered goals en route to the loss. Holder made five saves, but gave up the game-winner just under ten minutes into the first overtime.
Frogs vs. Baylor
• The Frogs and the Bears rivalry continues as TCU travels to Waco on Friday night. The Bears own a 5-2-1 record against the Frogs, having won the last five meetings between the two schools. This will be only the fourth trip to Waco for TCU, who is 1-2 all time at Baylor. In the last five games against Baylor, the Frogs have been shutout three times.
