
Horned Frogs Open Up C-USA Home Schedule

Fort Worth, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs soccer team returns home this weekend for a pair of Conference USA matches as Marquette and Saint Louis come calling. On Friday, the Frogs will square off against Marquette (4-4-1 overall, 1-1-0 C-USA) in a 4:00 start at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium. After an off day on Saturday, TCU returns to the pitch for a 1:00 start against C-USA front-runner Saint Louis (5-1-1 overall, 2-0-0 C-USA).
TCU is coming off its best start in the conference in school history, opening the conference season 1-1-0. They picked up a big win on Friday against preseason favorite Cincinnati, winning 2-1. Sunday, the Frogs didn't fair as well as DePaul shut the Frogs out, 2-0.

Van Zandt Extends Her Lead
*Junior Amy Van Zandt scored two more goals this weekend as she picked up the only goals in the 2-1 win over Cincinnati. In all, Van Zandt has scored four goals and tallied one assist for a team-high nine points. She has scored the last three goals for the Frogs.
Rough and Tumble Group
*TCU keeps piling up the yellow cards as they added two more cards this weekend. Adding to the mix was the first red card of the season. Kelly Potysman picked up a red card in the 73rd minute of the game on Sunday and will be forced to miss Friday's match against Marquette. In all, TCU has piled up nine yellow cards in eight games.
Making the Save
*The goalkeeping contingent came up big for the Horned Frogs as they made 12 stops this weekend, allowing only three goals. The offense let Jennifer Sims down on Sunday as they were held scoreless for third time this season. Katie Buchanan made six saves in the win over Cincinnati and Sims also tallied six saves in a 2-0 loss to DePaul on Sunday.
TCU Opens C-USA Action With A Victory
*With their 2-1 victory over Cincinnati on Friday, the Horned Frogs picked up their first C-USA victory of the season. This marks the first time in team history that they have opened up the conference scheduled with a victory.
TCU vs. Marquette History
* The Golden Eagles hold a 2-0-0 advantage in the all-time series, picking up both wins in Fort Worth. The Frogs have yet to solve the Marquette defense as they have not scored a goal in either of the meetings. The Horned Frogs dropped a 3-0 decision on September 4, 1995 and a 2-0 loss on September 28, 2001.
Scouting The Golden Eagles
*The Golden Eagles are 4-4-1 so far this season, but have yet to put back-to-back wins together. They opened up C-USA action with a double-overtime loss to Tulane, but rebounded to top Houston 1-0. The offense for Marquette has been stagnant this season, as they have only scored seven goals in eight games. On Wednesday, they dropped a 3-2 decision to the Univeristy of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The goalkeeping has aided the Golden Eagles as Katie Bissen has picked up 3.5 shutouts and has a GAA of 0.83.
TCU vs. Saint Louis History
*This Sunday's meeting will be only the second meeting between the two schools. TCU picked up the only win in the series, a 3-2 win in double overtime in Saint Louis back on September 23, 2001. Current Horned Frog, Laura Greenberg picked up both goals for the Frogs in regulation.
Scouting The Billikens
*The Billikens are on a roll this season, opening up the conference schedule with a pair of shutouts against previously unbeaten Southern Miss and a good Tulane team. Saint Louis is led by Jamie Perry with 10 points (3 goals, 4 assists) and Christie Cigno who has four goals. Amanda Martin is the leading goalkeeper for the Billikens with a 0.36 GAA. Martin and Lyndsay Gensler have combined for five shutouts this season.
