TCU tailback Ricky Madison has been selected by the media as the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Madison, a 5-10, 200-pound senior from Kimball High School in Dallas, accounted for 206 yards of total offense in the Horned Frogs' 38-35 win at Tulane on Monday. Madison carried the ball 23 times for 115 yards, his fifth career 100-yard rushing game, and caught three passes for a career-high 91 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Tye Gunn.
It's the first time that Madison has been honored by the conference for his performance on the field. However, he was named the ESPN/Capitol One Player of the Game in the 2002 AXA Liberty Bowl win over Colorado State after rushing for 111 yards on 19 carries.
Madison and the rest of the Horned Frogs will open the home portion of their season on Saturday, when they face the Navy Midshipmen in a 6:00 p.m. contest at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth.
