Gary Patterson: "At tight end we'll be as talented as we've been in a couple of years. We lost Quint Ellis to graduation but all the rest of our tight ends come back. With the addition of a couple of young guys, we'll have more depth there than we've had in a while."
Quality in limited quantity. The Frogs return just three players at the tight end position, but all three have game experience and will push each other for playing time.
Cody McCarty has a chance to be one of the better tight ends in recent TCU history. A former quarterback and defensive end, McCarty has found a home at tight end and has made great strides as he's gained confidence from learning the position. He has the soft hands to catch a pass and has also become a more physical blocker.
Senior Stanley Moss has lots of game experience and only hopes to stay healthy for his final collegiate season on the gridiron. Moss is coming back off a broken leg suffered in the Louisville game last season.
Chad Andrus lettered for the Frogs a year ago as a true freshman. An intelligent player, who saw most of his action on special teams a year ago, Andrus will see plenty of action this fall.
The Frogs added one tight end on signing day in Trey Englert from St. Thomas High School in Houston. Englert is touted as a good blocker who can run and catch the ball as well.
