The TCU Horned Frogs put on the full pads for the first time on Monday morning as they continued their pre-season workouts leading to the Labor Day opener at Tulane. The morning practice concluded the "acclimatization" period of the fall drills, which encompassed the first five days during which the Frogs practiced once each day.
"The first five practices were focused on fundamentals and installation," said TCU head coach Gary Patterson. "One of the benefits of going just one time a day is that we only had two guys on the injury report yesterday, knock on wood. We will add our goal line packages tomorrow, so by tomorrow night we should have everything put in."
The Frogs spent a portion of today's practice on "mayday," their two-minute drill.
"Mayday is one of the best drills because you have to think when you're tired," said Patterson. "I thought our legs were getting a little tired today. I had them run at the end because I didn't think we pushed through like we needed to. We have to keep pushing and getting better. We're trying to grow some people up right now."
The Frogs will practice twice on Tuesday, with sessions scheduled for 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
