CHICAGO - After compiling five hits, seven runs scored, seven RBI and three home runs in three games at Charlotte this past weekend, TCU first baseman Jared Lundeen (Fountain Hills, Ariz./Burnsville, Minn.) has been named Conference USA Co-Hitter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
The honor is the seventh of the season for a Horned Frog. Clayton Jerome is a four-time C-USA Pitcher of the Week (February 24, March 24, April 14 and April 28) , third baseman Mike Settle was the February 17 Hitter of the Week and Justin Hatcher was named Co-Hitter of the Week on April 21.
Lundeen began his impressive series at Charlotte with a two-run home run in Friday's 9-6 loss to the 49ers. Lundeen also executed a sacrifice bunt which helped the Horned Frogs take a late 6-4 lead before eventually falling to Charlotte.
On Saturday, the senior had the biggest game of his TCU career, blasting two home runs in the first two innings of the Frogs' 20-15 victory. Lundeen went on to add a double and steal a base en route to setting new career-highs with three hits (in three official at-bats) four runs scored and four RBI.
The first baseman capped his spectacular weekend with a 1-for-3 performance, two runs scored and an RBI on a first-inning sacrifice fly as TCU won the weekend series with an 18-4 triumph on Sunday.
In all, Lundeen hit .556 (5-for-9) on the weekend. He shares this week's honor with Ryan Norwood of East Carolina.
Lundeen and the Horned Frogs, who stand just a game out of first place in Conference USA, close the regular season with a critical three-game series this weekend versus Louisville. The Frogs and Cardinals begin their set at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Lupton Stadium and Williams-Reilly Field.
