
Merriex Chosen as No. 1 Pick in USBL Draft

MILFORD, Conn. -- With the first pick in club history and the No. 1 overall choice in the 2003 draft, the Texas Rim Rockers of the United States Basketball League (USBL) selected four-year TCU letterwinner Bingo Merriex. The Rim Rockers, located in Fort Worth, will play their inaugural season in 2003.
Merriex, a 6-9 forward, averaged 12.6 points and 7.5 rebounds for the Horned Frogs during his senior season. Merriex finished his career third all-time in TCU history in three-pointers made, 10th on the all-time scoring list and 10th on the rebounding charts.
Other Conference USA players drafted included: Sam Hoskins (F, DePaul, 2nd overall-Westchester), Brandon Brown (F, Tulane, 17th-Kansas), Marvin Stone (C, Louisville, 29th-Dodge City), Leonard Stokes (G, Cincinnati, 44th-Westchester) and Will McDonald (C, South Florida, 46th-Dodge City).
