The TCU Horned Frogs have moved up three spots in the Bowl Championship Series standings released today. The Frogs are ranked ninth in the latest poll with a point total of 24.75. By ranking in the top 12, the Frogs remain under consideration for a BCS bowl slot. The top six ranked teams in the final BCS standings receive automatic berths in the BCS bowls.
TCU (8-0, 5-0 Conference USA) is one of just two unbeaten teams in the country, joining the top-ranked Oklahoma Sooners. The Frogs' ninth-place ranking represents the highest-ranking a Conference USA school has achieved in the poll. Tulane was ranked 10th in the final two BCS rankings of the 1998 season as the Green Wave finished 12-0.
The Frogs, ranked 12th in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll and 13th in the Associated Press poll, will put their unblemished record on the line on Wednesday, November 5, when they host the Louisville Cardinals (7-1, 3-1) in a 6:30 p.m. contest at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth. Louisville is ranked 25th in this week's USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 with Rece Davis, Mark May, Trev Alberts and Sam Ryan describing the action. It will mark the first time in history that two ranked teams from Conference USA will play each other.
Bowl representatives from the Fiesta, AXA Liberty, Plains Capital Fort Worth and GMAC Bowls are expected to be on hand for the contest.
