
TCU Plans Army Tribute

Several events paying tribute to those who either have served or will serve in the military defending our great nation will highlight the TCU-Army football game on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m. at W.A. "Monty & Tex" Moncrief Field and Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth.
During pregame ceremonies, TCU will pay special tribute to one of its own, United States Army Captain Tristan Neil Aitken, a 1995 TCU and Army ROTC Distinguished Military Graduate, who was killed on April 4th of this year while serving in Iraq. Members of Captain Aitken's family will be special guests for the game's coin toss.
A special presentation of the colors will be made on horseback as the 1st Calvary Division from Fort Hood, Texas takes the field before the start of the game. The National Anthem will be performed by TCU Army ROTC Cadet Patrick Crocker.
Halftime festivities will honor three generations of the U.S. Army. Soldiers from Fort Sill, Oklahoma and from Fort Hood, Texas who recently returned from Iraq will be present and recognized on the field. A special tribute will be made to Korean War Veterans and Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Col. James Stone. Stone was awarded the Medal of Honor for courageous actions against overwhelming odds while fighting in Korea. In addition, 150 Army recruits from all over the Metroplex will take the Oath of Enlistment into the United States Army on the field at halftime.
Ron Young, from the 1st Calvary Division in Fort Hood, who was held as a prisoner of war during Operation Iraqi Freedom, will be also in attendance at the day's festivities. In addition, an Army helicopter, cannon, rock climbing wall and interactive gameswill be on display throughout the day in Frog Alley.
