FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Freshman Tye Gunn threw his first career touchdown pass to lead TCU past North Texas 16-10 Saturday night.
Gunn replaced starter Sean Stilley early in the second half after Stilley left the game with a separated right shoulder.
On his second series, Gunn capped a four-play, 40-yard drive with a 4-yard scoring pass to Cody McCarty to give the Horned Frogs a 10-3 lead.
Gunn set up the TCU score with a 29-yard run. On the scoring drive, he completed 2 of 5 passes for 12 yards and rushed for 24 yards on eight carries.
After Terran Williams returned a punt 36 yards to the North Texas 11, the Horned Frogs (3-1) extended their lead to 13-3 on Nick Browne's 29-yard field goal.
Browne added a 22-yard field goal with 1:28 left.
North Texas (1-3) closed it to 16-10 when Hiram Gonzalez threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Howard with 42 seconds left, but TCU's Jason Goss recovered the onside kick and the Horned Frogs ran out the clock.
