FORT WORTH, Texas - The 29th-ranked TCU women's tennis team handily defeated Cincinnati, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the 2002 Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The victory not only advances TCU into Saturday's semifinals versus Tulane (14-11), but also marks the 325th win in head coach Roland Ingram's coaching career. The Frogs' record moves to 18-4, while Cincinnati falls to 11-12.
Top-seeded TCU won the doubles point with victories at Nos. 2 and 3. Saber Pierce and Leoni Weirich defeated Jen Capuzzi and Leen Corneillie by a score of 8-4 at two doubles. At No. 3 Karla Mancinas and Katrin Gaber earned the 8-3 win over Julie Klauck and Samantha Liu. The 27th-ranked duo of Paty Aburto and Rosa Perez was leading Lyndsey Molony and Khush Italia by a 7-2 margin when the match was called per C-USA rules.
The Frogs picked up singles wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 3. 105th-ranked Paty Aburto picked up the win at No. 1 over Cris Reyes, 6-3, 6-0. Katrin Gaber topped Khush Italia, 6-1, 6-1 at two singles, while Saber Pierce earned the 6-1, 6-2 victory against Jen Capuzzi at No. 3. The Frogs were leading four, five and six singles when the matches were called.
TCU will next face five seed Tulane in the semifinal round of the 2002 Conference USA Championship. The match is scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday, April 20 on the Bernard J. "Tut" Bartzen Varsity Courts. In the other semifinal, 4th-seeded Marquette will meet upset winner seven seed UAB at 9:00 a.m.

Championship action continues through Sunday, April 21 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. No admission will be charged for the event. Due to the limited parking near the Tennis Center, spectator parking will be available at Amon Carter Stadium with a shuttle running to the Tennis Center.
