
26th-ranked Women's Tennis Defeats Tulsa, 5-1

FORT WORTH, Texas - The 26th-ranked TCU women's tennis team beat No. 62 Tulsa, 5-1, Saturday afternoon at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The match was played indoors due to inclement weather. The Frogs move their season record to 17-4, 3-0 C-USA, while the Golden Hurricane falls to 14-8.
The Frogs picked up the doubles point with their win at No. 2 and a default by Tulsa at three doubles. 47th-ranked Leoni Weirich and Saber Pierce topped Aleks Durska and Mariana Barrios, 8-6, for the Frogs' doubles win.
TCU earned wins at the Nos. 2, 3, and 4 singles positions. Katrin Gaber defeated Aleks Durska, 7-6 (5), 6-4 at No. 2, while Saber Pierce beat Jana Sedivec, 6-3, 6-3, at three singles. Rosa Perez earned the win at No. 4 singles over Mariana Barrios, 6-4, 6-2. The Frogs picked up their other point due to a Tulsa default at six singles.
TCU will host the 2002 Conference USA Women's Tennis Championship beginning Thursday, April 18 at 9:00 a.m. and running through Sunday, April 21 at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. No admission will be charged for the event. Due to the limited parking near the Tennis Center, spectator parking will be available at Amon Carter Stadium with a shuttle running to the Tennis Center.
