TCU Women's Tennis Narrowly Defeats SMU, 4-3

TCU won the doubles point with wins at nos. 2 and 3. Saber Pierce and Rosa Perez defeated UTA's Maria Stepanova and Jika Vetrovcova at no. 3 doubles after Stepanova sprained her ankle. Leoni Weirich and Paty Aburto defeated Gwen Behrendt and Ana Lukner, 8-2, at no. 2 doubles.
The Frogs gave up wins at nos. 1 and 2 singles, but won at nos 3 through 6 all in straight sets. After winning the first set, 66th-ranked Paty Aburto went on to lose to Marketa Cizova in one of the closest TCU singles matches of the season, 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (4). The loss ended Aburto's 12-match win streak.
TCU next travels to Fresno, Calif., to defend its conference title at the WAC Championships hosted by Fresno State, April 27-29.
