Women's Tennis Defeats Oregon

Fort Worth, Texas (April 14, 2001) - The TCU women's tennis team extended its win streak to 13 matches with a 4-3 win over Oregon, Saturday, at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The 26th-ranked Frogs improve to 16-3 while Oregon drops to 4-15. TCU is 8-0 when playing at home this spring.
TCU dropped the doubles point for only the sixth time this season. The Frogs won at no. 2 when Katrin Gaber and Karolina Roubickova upset Oregon's 33rd-ranked team of Monica Gieczys and Courtney Nagle, 8-4.
The Frogs recovered, winning four singles matches in two sets each. Freshman Paty Aburto defeated Jeanette Matsson at no. 2, 6-4, 6-1. The win improves Aburto's record to 16-2 in the spring and adds the 12th win to her win streak. At the no. 1 position, junior Katrin Gaber dominated Janice Nylano, winning 6-2, 6-0.
TCU will end its regular season at home, Tuesday, April 17, when they host 68th-ranked UT-Arlington at 2 p.m. on the Bernard "Tut" Bartzen Varsity Courts at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Frogs will defend their conference title at the WAC Championships, April 27-29, in Fresno, Calif.
