Women's Tennis Survives Scare from UTEP

The Frogs ran in to trouble early in the match, losing the doubles point. UTEP's Ana Brnas and Jana Peckova took the no. 1 doubles match from Rosa Perez and Saber Pierce 8-2. The Frogs responded with a win at no. 3 doubles, thanks to Paty Aburto and Brenna Shackelford, but the no. 2 doubles team of Karolina Roubickova and Saber Pierce was unable to win their match against the Miners' Kendall Exelby and Elizabeth Stone. They lost the match in a tiebreaker 7-5.
TCU responded in the singles competition, picking up victories at the no. 2, 4, 5 and 6 positions. At second singles, TCU freshman Paty Aburto upset Ana Brnas, currently ranked No. 67 in the nation, in straight sets. The deciding point came at no. 6 singles, where TCU's Brenna Shackelford came back from one set down to defeat UTEP's Elisa Bjorklund.
TCU's next match will be on the road against the Golden Hurricane of Tulsa on Friday, March 2, at 1 p.m. The Frogs' next home match will be on Saturday, March 10, at 11 a.m. when they host Harvard.
