
Women's Tennis Finishes Second Day at FSU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The TCU women's tennis team continues their competition at Florida State's Lady Seminole Classic.
Sophomore Paty Aburto was defeated by Dumitrescu of FSU in the third round of the Singles A flight (6-3, 6-2). Junior Rosa Perez also fell in the third round. She was defeated by the fourth seeded Maurer from Auburn (6-3, 6-2). Junior Brenna Shackelford defeated Rosenberg of Florida International in her first match (6-1, 6-1), then fell to Smith of Miami (6-2, 6-2).
In the consolation brackets, seniors Leoni Weirich and Katrin Gaber will meet each other in the consolation final of the Singles Flight A. To get to the finals, Weirich defeated Callahan of South Florida (6-2, 6-0) and Ramirez of Auburn (6-2, 6-3), while Gaber topped Campana of Florida International (6-3, 6-3) and took the match from Houle of South Florida by default.
On the doubles side, the team of Perez and Aburto defeated Houle and Sinclair of South Florida (8-0) in the Doubles A draw. Perez and Aburto then lost to Lenhoff and Gordon of Florida (8-2) in the second round. Senior Leoni Weirich and junior Brenna Shackelford fell to Janska and Woods of Auburn by a score of 8-5 in the Doubles B consolation bracket. Senior Katrin Gaber and freshman Karla Mancinas will meet Packer and Dahlman of Jacksonville University in the Doubles B consolation bracket.
