Missed Opportunities Punish Soccer Frogs In 2-1 Loss

FORT WORTH, Texas (September 12, 2000) -- The TCU Men's Soccer team lost
to
Texas Wesleyan on Tuesday evening, 2-1. The Frogs had numerous chances to
score throughout the entire game, but were unable to capitalize on their
attacks. TCU outshot Texas Wesleyan 18-15 and recorded 14 shots on goal,
however the Frogs failed to put away the many scoring opportunities they
created.
The first goal of the match came with less than two minutes remaining in the first half when defender Clay King scored on a header off of a corner kick taken by midfielder Ryan Clarkson. Texas Wesleyan's second goal came in the 77th minute of play when forward Casey Weil drilled in a cross set up by Clarkson.
TCU's lone goal came six minutes after Weil's goal when junior midfielder Nick Baker took advantage of a loose ball in front of the net and scored his second goal of the season.
With the loss, TCU falls to 2-2 on the year. The men will take on the UMKC Kangaroos in their next match. The match will be played at a neutral site in Shreveport, La. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
