Fox Adds To WAC Football Package

In addition, the 2000 Regional Package was announced and begins on Saturday, Sept. 16 when Rice plays host to Tulsa at 2:30 p.m. (CT). Three weeks later, on Saturday, Oct. 7, Hawai`i travels to Fort Worth to take on the Horned Frogs of TCU at 11:00 a.m. (CT). Hawai`i will again be featured on Saturday, Oct. 21, when its travels to Houston to face the Rice Owls at 2:30 p.m. (CT).
On Saturday, Oct. 28, first-year WAC member Nevada will travel to Dallas to take on SMU at 11:00 a.m. (CT) and the regional package wraps up on Saturday, Nov. 18 with TCU playing host to UTEP at 2:00 p.m. (CT). Bill Land will call the play-by-play while Gary Reasons will provide the color commentary.
On Sept. 23, California travels to Fresno to take on the Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. (PT). Fresno State will again be featured Thursday, October 5, when it heads to Houston to battle the Rice Owls at 6:00 p.m. (CT). One other game is scheduled for a national telecast on Saturday, Nov. 11, but the teams have not been determined at this time.
FSN will also nationally televise TCU's game at Navy on Sept. 30, but the game is not part of the WAC's package.
"This package gives the WAC a great opportunity to showcase its brand of football to the nation," said WAC Commissioner Karl Benson. "Not only are the traditional games being telecast, but some of our newest rivalries will also be shown to a national audience. The increase in the number of national and regional games over last year shows that the partnership between the WAC and FOX Sports Net is growing and thriving in just its second year."
