Women's Soccer Blanks Houston In Season Opener, 1-0

HOUSTON (Aug. 25) -- The TCU Women's Soccer team opened their
season Friday with a hard fought 1-0 victory over the Houston Cougars.
The lone goal in the game was scored in the first period by sophomore
forward Sherry Dick. Dick finished the game with six of TCU's 14 shots.
Junior forward Crystal Pratz was given credit for an assist on the play.
The Houston match also marked the first game for TCU freshman goalkeeper Shannon Wagner. Wagner played the entire match and recorded six saves en route to her first career shutout and win for TCU.
Houston and TCU both finished the game with 14 shots. The Cougars received four cornerkicks, but failed to capitalize on any of them. TCU was only given one cornerkick in the game.
The women will play their next match on Sunday, August 27, against Baylor at the Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium in Fort Worth. Game time is set for 6:00.
