Tomlinson, a senior from Waco, Texas (University HS), rushed for a season-high 294 yards on a school record 49 attempts and scored four touchdowns in TCUs 41-21 win over Hawaii. Tomlinson leads the country in rushing with 194.8 yards per game and in scoring with 14.4 points per game. He now has 4,079 career rushing yards placing him third on the WACs all-time list behind only Colorado States Steve Bartolo (4,813) and San Diego States Marshall Faulk (4,589).
Holloway, a senior from El Paso, Texas (Andress HS), made nine tackles (eight solo) in UTEPs 40-7 win at Tulsa. He had five tackles for a loss of 12 yards, including three sacks for 10 yards, and forced two fumbles and had five quarterback hurries. Holloway tied a 33-year-old school record with his three sacks. UTEP is now 3-0 in the WAC for the first time since 1987.
Jones, a freshman native of Reno, Nevada (McQueen HS), punted nine times for a 41.6-yard average at UNLV. Only two of the punts were returned for a total of 15 yards and he placed four of them inside the 20-yard line. Jones ranks 28th nationally in punting this week with a 41.8-yard average.
Other offensive nominees included junior wide receiver David Shabaglian, Fresno State; senior running back James Fenderson, Hawaii; junior tailback Jarmar Julien, San Jose State; and sophomore running back Sherman Austin, UTEP.
On the defensive side, nominees included senior linebacker Tim Skipper, Fresno State; junior defensive back Nate Jackson, Hawaii; senior linebacker Josh Parry, San Jose State; and senior defensive tackle Shawn Worthen, TCU.
Other special team nominations included senior strong safety Cody Slinkard, TCU; and senior place kicker Ricky Bishop, UTEP.
