Thomas Montigel is in his 13th season with TCU Men's Basketball and his 11th overseeing the program's operations as Assistant Athletics Director, Men's Basketball Operations.
Montigel takes pride in running an efficient, well-organized program. His responsibilities include scheduling nonconference games, including marquee matchups against Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Florida that have helped elevate the program's national brand, coordinating team travel, managing the program's budget, directing the Jamie Dixon Basketball Camps and serving as the program's liaison across departments. As college athletics continues to evolve, his role has expanded to include business development responsibilities that help the program navigate the changing landscape.
In 2024, Montigel was named the Intercollegiate Athletics Division winner of the TCU Chancellor's Staff Award, recognizing "outstanding service, significant contributions to TCU, and inspiration to the community." That same year, he was honored on Silver Waves Media's "Top 50 Rising Stars" list, celebrating Assistant Athletic Directors who have made a tremendous impact at their universities. He has also been recognized on Silver Waves Media's Top 100 Rising ADs and Future ADs list, identifying the next generation of athletic department leaders nationwide.
Earlier in his career at TCU, Montigel served as a graduate assistant for the men's basketball program from 2014-16. Before that, he was a four-year letterman for the Horned Frogs from 2011-14.
A Fort Worth native, Montigel earned a bachelor's degree from TCU with a double major in finance and entrepreneurial management, a master's degree in liberal arts, and an MBA from the Neeley School of Business in 2021. In 2018, he was named one of the NABC Under Armour 30-Under-30, recognizing him as a rising leader in college basketball operations and coaching.
