Petra Knight is entering her second season as an assistant athletic trainer at TCU. She serves as the primary athletic trainer for the Horned Frogs women’s basketball team.
Knight made the move to Fort Worth after spending three years as an assistant athletic trainer at Creighton, where she worked with the Bluejay women’s basketball and rowing teams. She previously enjoyed a four-year stint as an athletic trainer at Saint Louis from 2017-21. During her tenure in the Gateway City, Knight was the athletic trainer for women’s basketball, field hockey and cross country. Knight also worked at Carson-Newman from 2015-17 as the athletic trainer for men’s soccer, women’s basketball and tennis.
Knight, who grew up just down the road in Dallas, got her start in sports medicine as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Murray State softball team from 2011-13. Knight went on to serve in the head athletic training position at Ritenour High School in St. Louis for two years.
She earned a Master of Science degree in human development and leadership at Murray State in 2013. Knight is a 2011 graduate of Missouri Valley College with Bachelor of Science degrees in exercise science and athletic training.
Knight is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and the NATA Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee. She is certified as a professional rescuer through the American Red Cross as a corrective exercise specialist and a graston technique provider.
