TCU head coach Kirk Saarloos announced the addition of Evan Skoug to the staff in August of 2023. He enters his second season as a student assistant on the coaching staff while completing his undergraduate degree.
Skoug, a 2017 All-American and a three-time all-Big 12 performer, spent three years at TCU from 2015-17. At the conclusion of his collegiate career, Skoug was a seventh-round draft pick of the Chicago White Sox.
In his time at TCU, Skoug started 198 games and appeared in 199. A career .286 hitter, the catcher totaled 219 hits, including 47 doubles, one triple and 36 home runs. He saved his best season for the last. He was one of 15 NCAA athletes and the first Horned Frog since 1997 to hit 20 home runs in a season while his 71 RBIs were tied for the fifth-most in program history.
Skoug’s professional career spanned six seasons and 334 games played. Over the course of his career, he hit 50 doubles, eight triples and 36 home runs while driving in 124. He earned an invite to spring training this past season and reached AAA in two seasons (2021, 2023).
Skoug is a native of Libertyville, Ill. and resides in Fort Worth with is wife Kelcee.
