Danny Randolph arrived at TCU in May 2015 as an assistant coach.
Randolph came to the Horned Frogs after serving the previous four seasons as head women's golf coach at Lynn University, where he won two national championships.
Randolph led the Fighting Knights to unprecedented heights. Under his guidance, Lynn won back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championships, its first Sunshine State Conference championship and NCAA South Regional. Overall, the Fighting Knights won 24 tournaments under his direction.
In addition to its success on the links, Lynn also excelled academically. Under Randolph, the Fighting Knights received NCAA Division II Elite 89 honors and produced a 2014 NCAA Woman of the Year finalist.
Inheriting a team which had just missed the NCAA Tournament, Randolph's first year saw him lead a squad of four freshmen to the NCAA Regional and place second at the conference tournament as he collected SSC Coach of the Year accolades.
A more experienced squad returned in 2012-13 to put Lynn back in the national spotlight. The Fighting Knights won a then program-record six tournaments, including the 50th of Randolph's distinguished career. In 11 events total, the Fighting Knights earned six wins, finished runner-up three times and logged top-five finishes in every appearance. Lynn took top honors at the NCAA Regional for the first time, advanced to the NCAA National Championship for the third time and won the program's fourth national title, while dethroning four-time reigning champion Nova Southeastern.
Not many coaches can provide an adequate encore following a national championship, but Lynn was more than up to the task while sending shockwaves through Division II golf along the way. Under Randolph's leadership in 2013-14, the Fighting Knights put forth not only the greatest season in school history but at the NCAA Division II level as well.
The numbers were overwhelming: 11 wins in 13 tournaments with two runner-ups, a 76.9 overall stroke average, 296.6 team average and 41 individual top-10 finishes. Lynn would also tie a Sunshine State Conference record by winning seven consecutive tournaments.
One victory which had eluded the illustrious program was achieved when Lynn pulled out a four-stroke win to claim the SSC Championship. The Fighting Knights followed with a second consecutive NCAA South Region title before capturing the program's fifth national championship with a convincing 29-stroke victory. Randolph collected his second SSC Coach of the Year award while taking home WGCA National Coach of the Year accolades.
In addition to the many team accomplishments, Randolph presided over great individual success. Jessica Bradley became the first student-athlete in Lynn history, and the fourth women's golfer for the SSC, to win back-to-back National Player of the Year honors. The team had at least two All-Americans in each of his four seasons at the helm and recorded 13 Scholar All-America accolades.
Prior to his tenure at Lynn, Randolph was one of the top coaches in the NAIA at Bethel. Starting the women's golf team in 2004, he led the Pilots to 43 tournament championships, five conference crowns, three NAIA Region VIII titles and six NAIA National Tournament appearances, including a runner-up finish in 2009. Over his last five years, his teams were consistently ranked in the top 15 in the nation with Bethel achieving a No. 1 ranking in the 2008-09 season, the same year it finished as national runners-up.
Randolph's team success directly correlates to the individual accomplishments as he coached eight NAIA All-Americans, 13 NAIA Academic All-Americans and the 2008 NAIA Individual National Champion. The Pilots also received the Buffalo Funds Team Character Award for women's golf presented by the NAIA in 2007 and 2008.
A former men's basketball player at Bethel, Randolph was part of the 1997 and 1998 NAIA National Championship teams. As an assistant coach, he helped lead the Pilots to the 2005 NCCAA National Championship game, 2007 NCCAA National Championship and 2008 Final Four and 2009 NAIA Elite Eight.
Randolph earned his B.S. in business administration with a concentration in marketing and computer applications from Bethel in 2000 and later graduated with his master's in business administration in 2004. He and his wife Peggy, a former volleyball standout at Bethel, have two basset hounds, Flash and Ollie.
