Entering his ninth season as head diving coach at Texas Christian University in 2026–2027, Anthony Crowder has directed the men's and women's diving program since 2018. A program builder and athlete-development leader, he oversees recruiting, individualized technical development, year-round periodization, dryland and water training, competition planning, and the multidisciplinary coordination required to support student-athletes in performance, academics, health, and life beyond sport.
Crowder was named the 2023 Big 12 Women's Diving Coach of the Year, the first such coaching honor in TCU program history. Under his leadership, TCU divers have won five individual Big 12 titles and the 2025 men's team-diving title. That team posted an NCAA-record score of 407.45, also establishing TCU school, Big 12 Conference and Big 12 Championship records. Across the 2019–2026 championships, his athletes produced 63 individual A-final performances and 20 individual podium finishes. From 2022 through 2025, four TCU divers combined for nine NCAA Championship appearances and 13 event entries. Anna Kwong's 17th-place finish on 1-meter in 2025 is the best NCAA result of Crowder's TCU tenure.
His work also reaches the national and international levels through two distinct athlete-development paths. Crowder guided Anna Kwong's development as TCU's school-record holder on both springboards and into a 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials 3-meter finalist, the 2024 USA Diving Winter Nationals 3-meter champion, the 2025 USA Diving national champion on 1-meter and synchronized 3-meter, and a 2025 World Aquatics Championships competitor. David Ekdahl arrived at TCU as a Swedish senior 1-meter national champion and multi-event junior national champion. Under Crowder, he won four individual Big 12 titles, set TCU records on both springboards, qualified for three NCAA Championships, and represented Sweden at four consecutive World Aquatics Championships from 2022 through 2025. With Crowder coaching at the 2023 Swedish Championships, Ekdahl set Malmö's men's 1-meter club record. Crowder represented Sweden as a coach at the 2022 FINA World Junior Diving Championships, where TCU freshman Oliver Cazaly reached the 3-meter final, and at the 2023 World Aquatics Championships. He represented USA Diving as a coach at the 2025 World Aquatics Diving World Cup stops in Guadalajara and Windsor, traveling with Kwong, and at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games.
Before joining TCU, Crowder was hired to rebuild George Washington University's varsity diving program when it was reinstated for the 2014–2015 season. He contributed to consecutive Atlantic 10 men's team championships in 2017 and 2018 and helped GW divers advance to conference finals and NCAA Zone A. Earlier, as head diving coach at Wingate University, he coached Lindsey Taylor to the 2012 NCAA Division II women's 1-meter national championship. His additional background includes collegiate, club, and high-school coaching roles dating to 2007.
Crowder earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in management and marketing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His coaching approach combines technical precision, clear standards, individualized development, and strong relationships across the full student-athlete support network.
Away from the pool, Crowder and his wife of 13 years, Maria, make their home in Fort Worth with their two daughters, Luna and Esme.
