Ryan Jackson joined the TCU football staff in December 2021.
Jackson is one of just two individuals nationally to serve in a dual role as the football program's sports dietitian and one of its strength coaches.
Jackson made an immediate impact with the Horned Frogs as the 2022 team reached the College Football Playoff National Championship. Quarterback Max Duggan was the Heisman Trophy runner-up as Jackson traveled to New York City to keep him on a proper diet and conditioning program while on the awards circuit.
Jackson oversees all team-based performance nutrition and supplement education. He consults with student-athletes on diet while writing training programs for the quarterbacks, advanced athletes and return-to-play athletes. He also coordinates all game day nutrition protocols as well as during team travel. Additionally, he coordinates dining hall menus and the purchases of food for the student-athlete fueling station.
Prior to TCU, Jackson was the director of performance nutrition at UCF in 2021. Similar to his work at TCU, he served in the dual roles of sports dietitian and human performance coach at SMU and Arkansas State. He also worked in strength and conditioning at Tulsa and Missouri.
Jackson holds a pair of bachelor's degrees from Missouri in human environmental sciences in nutritional sciences with emphases on nutrition and fitness and medical dietetics. He also earned a masters of education at Mizzou in health education and promotion from the School of Education and Counseling Psychology. His work in the classroom extends to serving as an adjunct professor at Logan University in its Master of Science in Strength and Conditioning program.
Certifications for Jackson include being a Registered Dietitian - Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Flex Diet Certified and CPR/AED.
