Brian Howard

TCU head coach Kirk Saarloos announced the addition of Brian Howard to the staff in August. He will serve as a student assistant on the coaching staff while completing his undergraduate degree.
Howard was a member of the team for its four-year run to Omaha from 2014-17. He put together a stellar career in the Purple and White and ultimately joined the Oakland A's organization as an eighth-round selection in 2017.
The right-handed pitcher made 40 starts as part of 62 career appearances during his time at TCU. He compiled a 26-5 record and posted a 3.46 ERA in 262 2/3 innings pitched. He racked up 266 strikeouts and limited opponents to a .226 average.
In his time at TCU, Howard was a 2017 Honorable Mention All-Big 12 performer in addition to earning spots on two Big 12 Championship all-tournament squads (2016, 2017. He was voted to the 2016 NCAA Fort Worth All-Regional Team and the 2016 Shriner's Hospital for Children College Classic All-Tournament squad. At the conclusion of his junior season, he was a 17th round draft pick by the Houston Astros, but elected to return for his senior season.
Howard went on to spend six seasons in the minors, starting 80 games as part of 148 career appearances. He boasted a 36-26 career record and fanned 491 batters in 521.0 innings pitched. He reached AAA in 2019, 2021 and 2022 and earned an invite to spring training three times.
