TCU Ranger FAQ's
- Who is eligible to try out?
Incoming freshmen through incoming seniors are eligible to try out. A cumulative GPA minimum of 2.5 is required. For incoming freshmen, senior year transcript and a copy of your TCU acceptance letter is required to be considered for TCU Rangers.
- How can I apply for Rangers? When are tryouts/clinics held?
Tryouts and applications will be due in the late spring and clinics will be held a few weeks before they are due. Follow the Rangers on Instagram to stay updated on application deadlines. The link to the application can be found on this page.
- Do you need prior athletic experience?
No, there will be many opportunities to prepare for game days including practices and Ranger camp. However, practicing physical fitness before and between these opportunities is highly recommended.
- How many spots are available for next year?
We do not have a set number of spots available. The team varies between 20 and 25 members. A Ranger is required to tryout every year even if they were on the team the year before.
- What are the physical requirements to join Rangers?
To be a Ranger, you must meet the athletic requirements listed in the physical fitness portion of the application.
- What sports do the TCU Rangers attend?
The TCU Rangers support football and soccer in the fall and volleyball and baseball in the spring.
- What is the time commitment?
Practices are held three times a week for two hours. Members are expected to attend all football games as well as many of the other sporting events. For the Rangers, football game days begin five hours before kickoff and end two hours after the game ends.
- What are some other activities that Rangers are involved in?
The TCU Rangers attend the Fort Worth Parade of Lights, The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo in the winter. We also appear as requested at TCU campus events.
- Can I be involved in other organizations? (ex: Greek life, student government, etc.)
Yes! Many Rangers are involved in other organizations like TCU clubs, Greek life, external jobs, and more.
